Adopt an Inmate
Adopt an Inmate connects people in prison (adoptees) with free people (adopters) to provide support and guidance within the justice system via letters. They aim to increase incarcerated individuals’ likelihood of a successful reentry into society by amplifying their voices and expanding their support system.
Our Project
A web application integrated with a vector database that automates the matching process between adopters and adoptees, replacing a slow, manual matching system. The vector database stores vector embeddings of adoptees and is queried using vector embeddings of adopters to find the best matches. The web app manages the adopter experience through an intuitive presentation of the matching process results. This project will streamline Adopt an Inmate’s impact by scaling and expediting their adopter-matching process, ultimately expanding adoptees’ access to support.
